More great examples, thank you.

I am having one issue building this as I go along in that the labels don't show up. Anyone else experiencing that? I see the same issue in the ColumnChaartTutorial in the example download.

@Mark,

I had the motion chart in mind myself - but anything that approximates that effect would work.

As for the drill down - switching to a stacked wedge has a certain appeal --- thanks for the idea.

@Tom,

I was talking about the Google's Annotated Timeseries chart and the motion chart.

@Pauli,
How about a linear motion of the bubble when you switch data sources ? But then you might want to keep your axes fixed, just like how they do it in the motion charts, if its the same metric on the axes.

It does work just fine within AIR.

I've got tool tips working, and data source substitutions as the years change. The tool tips don't line up the way you'd expect them to -- haven't figured that out yet.

Any suggestions for drilling down or animating the transition when the data source has changed, using bubble charts in your library.

@Mark, I am not sure which Google chart you are referring to, but yes, most likely you can do it.

We have actually just released the Beta to Axiis, and I am currently using this in commercial projects, and I consider it to be reasonably stable with no known bugs. But you will need to work with it a bit to evaluate the suitability for your projects.

Tom,

I'm pretty impressed with axiis to say the least. The bubble chart example is very interesting. Maybe I can build something like the google's bubble chart on top of this.

When do you envision to come out with an official stable release ?

@Pauli,

Hi Pauli, the library should work just fine running within AIR.

Tom,

I'm very impressed with your library. I'm going to start working with the bubble graph sample as soon as I finish this comment.

There don't seem to be many options for data vis libraries that are compatible with Air. I was wondering if there was anything about this code that would prevent it from running in an Adobe Air app?

Hi Tom,

thanks a lot for axiis! A couple of months ago, I heavily worked with the Flex Charts and at some points it behaves like a black box for me. Especially, the customizing stuff is not very comfortable with the Flex charts (I don't mean skinning in this case). So when I went through your tutorial it feels very nice and comfortable! But how you have already mentioned, the programmer or I have to put a lot of abstract thinking to use axiis (at least that was my first impression when I saw this tutorial). Because of this first emotional impression I would be very happy, if there will be published a very well documention. Not just the asDoc Export. For instance, some Class diagramms and such great tutorials like this about the concepts and ideas behind the framework are so important. At least for me as small Flex Developer ;-)

Thx a lot! Your approach seems very well well-thought-out and your abstract model looks very stable!!

Best Regards

@Ped,

Thanks for the kind words.

In regards to a "production" app, we have recently released the Axiis Beta 1.0. I am personally using Axiis on commercial projects, and think a majority of the bugs and issues have been worked out of the framework. That said, as one of the primary authors of the code I am highly confident if I found an issue it would be easy for me to resolve - and that is something you need to evaluate for your specific situation. If your alternative is doing something ground-up (versus using some other library) I would think you are better off using Axiis, as it would put you way ahead of starting from scratch.

Re: FXG/Flex 4. Axiis does not rely upon the Flex component lifecycle OR FXG, and can peacefully co-exist side by side with both. I would see no reason to have to re-work any of your code when porting over to FXG/Flex 4.
